Best "New" Bar In Portland
We’re proud to announce the Portland Mercury have just named Dig A Pony “Best New Bar in Portland” in their review of the year…
The care and craftsmanship that went into one of the most gorgeously designed interiors in recent memory extends to the cocktail list and the menu.
Add on-point DJs and good booking, and even if you don’t get to take one of those pretty...

We've been named one of Portland's "Bars of... →
The Portland Mercury have been kind to include us in their “Bars of Summer”. Click the above link to read more. It’s been a hectic but incredible couple of months since we opened. Thanks to all our amazing patrons. We couldn’t have done it without you! Hopefully the Summer will last just a little bit longer…

All Bikes Welcome
Right now we’re parking our bikes inside the bar, but in time for opening, we’ll be getting some genuine racks installed outside the bar, so you can ride down, lock up and drink easy.

Who Is Dig A Pony?
As is hopefully becoming apparent from our blog, Dig A Pony has been a collaboration between many different people. But at it’s heart are the 3 owners Jacob Carey, Aaron Hall and Page Finlay.
In case you wanted to know the faces behind the names, we thought we’d introduce ourselves to you photographically. On the left is Aaron, in the centre is Page and on the right is Jacob. Our...

Kitchen Staff Wanted
We’re planning a tastebud-tingling dinner menu, a selection of contemporary takes on classic American cuisine. But we need to find some talented and passionate people who won’t burn it.
We’re looking to take on a Kitchen Manager and a Cook to start when we open in 2 weeks time. If this sounds appealing, or you know someone who might be interested, drop us an email at...

People Are Starting to Talk
It seems news of Dig A Pony is starting spread. The good people at Willamette Week wrote a nice little piece on us this week. You can have a read of it here.

We Are Naked
The grey boarding is now down from outside the bar. Although we still have our trusty newspapers shielding us from full view, you can now sneak a peak at what’s going on as you pass on the sidewalk. We feel a little naked now!
This is the current view from across the street…
We even stuck a temporary DAP logo up in the window. We think, despite the newspaper and the traffic cone,...

Woodworking
These last two weeks we’ve been fortunate to have the help of Page’s brother, Dirk Finlay. Dirk graduated recently in fine furniture making from the North Bennett Street School in Boston, and his craftsmanship has been so helpful in the development of the space. He’s been plugging sections of the floor in very creative ways, and also framed this piece of wrought iron for us,...

We are getting a stained glass window designed for the bar. It’s only half-way done at the moment but we’re still excited!
It’s being designed by Aaron’s Dad Christopher Hall. Another example of people we know lending a hand to make this space come together. We can’t thank you guys enough for all your help so far!
